ELETRIPTAN (Relpax®) helps to relieve a migraine attack (an intense, throbbing headache often accompanied by nausea, vomiting and increased sensitivity to light and noise). Eletriptan works by reducing swelling around the blood vessels in your brain and by blocking release of a chemical from your nerve endings. Eletriptan is not used for migraine prevention. Pirazetam (brand name: Nootropil®, Myocalm®), is a cerebral function regulator drug which is understood to be able to boost mental powers as well as slow down brain aging. Pirazetam is used to relieve anxiety, muscle spasms, and seizures and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal. Some studies have found that Pirazetam may be useful in the treatment of ischemic stroke. Several studies have also found that the drug is an effective treatment for myoclonus, a condition that can affect Alzheimer’s patients. Trials showed that Pirazetam inhibited myoclonus and significantly improved the patient’s quality of life.
